Frequently Asked Questions

What is LocalGameFinder?

The first online search engine for local recreational sports! It is unique because it is a free search engine (similar to Google or Bing) that allows players to easily narrow their searches by sport, location and age. Even better than a plain old search engine, LocalGameFinder lets you sign up for your sport as well!

What Does LocalGameFinder Do For Event Planners?

What Does LocalGameFinder Do For Players?

What Do I Need To Do To List My Event?

You will need to register. Go to www.LocalGameFinder.com and click REGISTER in the top right of the screen. Follow the instructions.

Once you register you will be able to add an event. This is pretty straightforward, but there is a helpful video link that will guide you through it. Just click VIDEO on the bottom of the page.

Your event will stay listed on the site until the Start Date.

Can I Ask Custom Questions Of My Players?

There are three customizable fields for each event where you can ask the players to answer questions when they signup. For instance, if your players must also have a registration number, or you need to know how much experience they have in your sport, or if they have a team they are signing up for, just ask!

Do I Have To Re-Enter My Event Every Season?

No. Simply log in, click the event from last season and select DUPLICATE EVENT at the top of the screen. Change the Start/End Dates and age limits (if necessary) and you are done! There's a helpful tool to let you quickly email all of the players from your last season if you want to ask them to sign up again.

Can I Have Existing Customers Signup Online?

Absolutely. There are a few ways to do that. First, you can use the handy social networking and email sharing tools that LocalGameFinder provides when you create your event.

Another option is to put your Event Code on your literature. Every event in LocalGameFinder is automatically assigned an Event Code. Give your players your Event Code and they can enter it in the field on the top right of the LocalGameFinder page. They will be taken straight to your event where they can sign up!

How Does LocalGameFinder Process Signup Payments?

When your players sign up on LocalGameFinder, Paypal securely processes their credit card payment and sends the money to your Paypal account. LGF does not charge anything for this service. Paypal merchant charges may still apply, but no credit card processing fees!

I'm looking for a sport to play. Why should I use LocalGameFinder?

LocalGameFinder gives you a way to easily find the events near you and sign up, all in one convenient location. Even if your sport isn't well marketed in your area, you will now be able to find it just by looking at LocalGameFinder. LGF has all of the information logically laid out for each event to cut through any confusion. Plus, if you're signing up your kids, you can narrow the results by age as well as sport and distance from your house to make sure you're signing up for the perfect sport!

I see an event I want to sign up for. How much does it cost me to use LocalGameFinder?

Nothing. You will only be charged for the cost of the events that you sign up for.

This is really neat! I just signed up for one but I want to invite my friend. How do I point them to this event?

When you sign up the confirmation email gives you an Event Code that you can give to your friend. When they go to LocalGameFinder.com they can enter the code at the top right and it will take them straight to the same event you signed up for. There is also a "Share This Event With Your Friends" link on the event page itself. You can use it to send emails or take advantage of social networking.

I'm running a sports camp. Why should I use LocalGameFinder?

LocalGameFinder puts your event in front of people who may otherwise not know you were there, and for free! It handles your sign ups, makes it easy to accept payments, processes the payments, sends you an email indicating who has signed up, whether they have paid, organizes all of the participants in one place and gives you the one-click option to email everybody updates to the event, and more! Why WOULDN'T you use LocalGameFinder?

Obviously that's a great idea, but does it do anything else?

Of course it does! Even if you have some people that didn't use LocalGameFinder to sign up you can still add their email address to the list of participants for that event so any updates are sent to them as well. Plus, when that event is over and you're going to start it back up again you can simply duplicate that event, change the date, and you're done listing the new one! The system will give you the option to email all of the previous event's participants to invite them to come join your new one. Even more, LGF gives your event an Event Code that you can add to your website, fliers, etc. so that potential customers can quickly and easily find your event and sign up for it. It can't be any easier (if you think it can, let us know how and we'll fix it).

How much does it cost to list my event on LocalGameFinder?

Free! You can list as many events as you want all for free. Use your Paypal account to receive the payments.

I'm tired of having a line of customers at my desk trying to sign up right before my league starts. Can LocalGameFinder help with THAT?

Absolutely. When you list your event you will be given an Event Code. Put that code on any of your printed literature for your event and your customers can use that code to find your event on LocalGameFinder.com (enter it in the box at the top right of the home page). Now all you have to do is print the list of sign ups the day of the event. No more shuffling paperwork! Plus, you can use the handy "Share This Event With Your Friends" link on the event page to post your event to your social networking site or email former customers.

What kind of events can I list on LocalGameFinder?

Any event you want. Recreational leagues, tournaments and training camps are the usual listing, but it doesn't stop there. You can list a pick-up game, a skills competition, tryouts, or even other types of games (it doesn't have to be a sport).

Why did you start LocalGameFinder.com?

We play sports and games too. We've missed countless leagues, tournaments, camps, etc. just because we didn't know they existed until after somebody tells us how great they were. It's time to stop looking for games and start playing them!
